Laser Vision Correction Options

Custom LASIK

Young Couple

Clearview Vision Institute is home to the most advanced LASIK technology available in North America. Our teams of experts, head by surgeon, Dr. Christoph Kranemann, have performed thousands of laser vision correction procedures with an outstanding record of success. After the procedure, 98% of our LASIK patients have vision that is 20/20 or better.

Widely used to treat myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism (blurred vision due to a disturbance in the shape of cornea), LASIK is a safe and effective, refractive surgical procedure. It is designed to reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses and offers the fastest recovery time of all vision correction procedures.

But not all LASIK eye surgery is of the same quality as that performed at the Clearview Institute.

LASIK Procedure Steps

At the Clearview Institute, your LASIK eye surgery begins when a corneal flap is created using a computer-guided Visumax femtosecond laser, the most precise, bladeless flap cutter on the market. It is a laser that is used exclusively in Canada by us.

The flap is pulled back to reveal the cornea. The cornea is then reshaped using a Wavefront optimized Excimer laser to correct your refractive error.

Everything is performed while you are in a stationary position in our ergonomically designed operating room recliners. A far less risky proposition than if you were to be moved from equipment to equipment, which is often the case at other eye clinics.

With our procedure, you will experience minimal discomfort with no vision blackouts.

A simple examination will reveal if you are a candidate for LASIK eye surgery.

Custom PRK

Clearview Vision Institute is home to the most advanced PRK technology available in North America. Our teams of experts, head by surgeon, Dr. Christoph Kranemann, have performed thousands of vision correction procedures with an outstanding record of success. After the procedure, 98% of our PRK patients have vision that is 20/20 or better.

Often referred to as the original laser eye surgery, Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a vision correction procedure performed with one of the Clearview Institute's Wavefront Excimer lasers. The lasers resculpt the surface of the cornea, resulting in clearer vision than before.

And what makes PRK different than LASIK eye surgery?

PRK

PRK is performed on the surface of the cornea after removing or lifting the corneal epithelium, rather than the corneal flap. It is the right procedure for people with large pupils, thin or structurally different corneas or individuals involved in contact sports.

It takes longer to heal with PRK than it does with LASIK eye surgery - and vision can be blurry after the procedure while the corneal surface heals.

A simple examination will reveal if you are a candidate for PRK.
